Jeff is married to Elsa. They have 3 children. Their son is a teacher. One daughter is an engineer and the other is a recruitment manager.

He has an MA and a DTE and has been an educator all his professional life, teaching pre-primary, primary, secondary and university students, both in South Africa and internationally.

Jeff is now a freelance tutor and on-line mentor, editor, researcher and coach.

ABOUT

I am a trained and qualified educator with experience of teaching and tutoring in primary and secondary education in South Africa and internationally. I also have many years’ experience in adult education and training, especially as a university lecturer. In the course of a long career, I have worked for five schools, three universities and freelanced as a trainer, tutor and English expert.

 I specialise in English, Business English and Communication, Afrikaans and History. I am also an experienced writer, editor and proof-reader in both English and Afrikaans.

I am passionate about the importance of effective communication, especially in English and I specialise in teaching both English as a mother language and as a foreign language (ESL). My experience in this field includes preparing adults for the British Council’s IELTS test (International English  Language Testing System) which some countries require for entrance as an immigrant or a student.

As an adult educator, I have considerable experience as a university lecturer and I am also experienced as an in-service trainer. I am experienced in training and tutoring Business English and Communication Skills, Presentation Skills and the use of MS Powerpoint.

My language expertise includes writing (in English) and drawing up policies and other documents.
I am also an experienced and successful researcher and I have published a number of academic articles.

I have a great deal of experience of supporting and assisting students in writing assignments, post-graduate research essays and theses and I have successfully supervised many Masters students. One of the services I offer is help with tertiary students’ assignments, research essays and theses. The help I offer covers all aspects of the research and writing process – selecting topics for research, formulating research proposals, research planning and methodology, the research process and writing research reports. My preferred field is the Humanities, but, thanks to my experience as a member of the Faculty Research Committee, I am also competent to assist with the Social Sciences.
